The Solid Waste District offers support, resources and programs for the municipalities, villages and townships of Cuyahoga County. We work closely with city service departments, mayor's and manager's offices and municipal communications/public relations staff.

Annual Reports & Residential Recycling Reports

Each year, our annual report highlights the work of the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District. The annual report includes the Residential Recycling Report, which documents the county's progress of reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills.

Business Recycling Assistance

A District staff member can help develop and improve existing workplace recycling programs. Presentations, waste audits, contracting assistance and recycling market information are available for restaurants, schools, commercial buildings, multi-family housing units and other businesses in your community. Email Doreen Schreiber.

Children and Youth Education Programs

Classroom presentations, teacher workshops, mini-grants, summer programs, teacher materials, contest and field trips are available for schools, scouting groups, camp programs and other youth services. Email Carin Miller.

Data on the solid waste management and recycling contracts of each of Cuyahoga County?s fifty-nine communities.  The Solid Waste District makes updates as information becomes available from the communities. Environmental Crimes Task Force

A joint effort of Cleveland and Cuyahoga County law enforcement agencies to stop illegal dumping and environmental crimes in the 59 communities of Cuyahoga County. See details.

Facility Lists

The District maintains lists of facilities in Cuyahoga County, including waste transfer stations, construction & demolition debris landfills and registered compost facilities.

Grants: Community Recycling Awareness and Special Projects

We offer an annual grant to help local governments in Cuyahoga County promote recycling to residents. Other small grants are available for communities, schools and non-profit organizations to support recycling collection and recycling awareness. Email Beth Biggins-Ramer.

Litter Collection Program

A year-round litter collection for communities through a partnership with Court Community Service Inc., a non-profit agency that arranges community service work for adult offenders referred by the Cuyahoga County Municipal and Common Pleas Courts. Provides extra help to keep public areas and roadways clean. Email Matt Walters.

 

Recycling Bin Loan Program

Request the use of temporary recycling or trash bins for your community event. Email Matt Walters.

Recycling Information and Outreach

A recycling hotline, recycling program assistance, website, brochures, social media, marketing and promotional materials, green tips, recycling content, presentations, communications and an enewsletter are available. For recycling messages and outreach, email Cristie Snyder 

Speakers' Bureau

Recycling presentations customized for adults, seniors and youth. We'll speak to any age or organization about recycling, waste reduction and composting. See details.

Special Recycling Programs
