Dispose of Tools and Usable Building Materials Right

Do not place tools, lumber, glass panes, or building materials in your recycling cart or bin.

Donate

Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity ReStore accepts donations of tools (hand, power, and yard) appliances (10 years old or less), windows and doors, cabinets, fixtures, sinks, furniture, lumber (6 ft. or longer), and more. All items must be in good, usable condition. Items are cleaned and processed for resale to the general public.

Habitat has two ReStore locations: 2110 West 110th Street in Cleveland and 4601 Northfield Road in North Randall. For more information, call Habitat for Humanity at (216) 429-3631 or see their website.

Annually, the Sonnhalter Tool Drive takes place from August 1-31, with over 15 drop-off stations, benefitting Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity.

Usable tools and products can be donated to local community service organizations that use the items to support their work. See below for a list of Donation Locations.

Recycling and Disposal

Some small, non-working power tools can be recycled at Best Buy, Home Depot, or Staples stores. Check with your local store.

Large items such as lawnmowers and snowblowers, in non-working condition, may be picked up by your city on bulky waste collection day. Contact your city service department for details.
