Community Shredding Events

Occasionally, local communities host free, seasonal shredding and document destruction events for their residents. Use the dark blue 'What Do I Do With?' search bar at the top of every page of this website. Allow location services or use the city drop-down to find opportunities in your local area.

The City of Cleveland offers free, year-round document shredding for residents at the Division of Waste Collection, 5600 Carnegie Avenue. Hours are Monday-Friday from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM. Call (216) 664-3717 for more information.

Other Shredding Options
FedEx Office, Office Depot, Staples, and The UPS Store offer document shredding services for a fee.

Shred-It offers document shredding Monday-Friday from 9:00 AM-4:00 PM at 55 Andrews Circle in Brecksville. Call (440) 565-5750 for pricing and details.

Secure Recycling, 29601 Solon Road in Solon, offers document shredding Monday-Friday from 8:00-11:00 AM and 1:00-4:00 PM. Call (216) 424-3400 for pricing and details.

Recycling Shredded Paper

Shredded paper should not be placed in curbside recycling.

Shreds are too small to be sorted properly at the materials recovery facility (MRF) that receives your recyclables. It falls through the recycling plant's fast-moving conveyor belts and goes in the trash.

Shredded paper should be taken to a mixed paper recycling drop-off bin typically found in school or municipal parking lots, nonprofits, places of worship, and the Cleveland Metroparks. A list of Metroparks locations is on our Cardboard page. Clean shredded paper can also be used in backyard composting.
