Dispose of Cosmetics Right

Do not place empty cosmetics or makeup containers in curbside recycling.

Drop-Off Recycling Options

Individuals can use Pact Collective to dispose of tiny tubes and cosmetic products. The organization offers drop-off bins at Sephora, Nordstrom, Saks, and Ulta Beauty stores. If there's no bin near you, choose Pact Collective's mail-back collection program for beauty and wellness products.

Terracycle offers collection brigades for certain cosmetics and beauty products.

If you choose not to recycle cosmetics items through a special collection or brigade, place cosmetics in the regular trash for disposal.

As of December 30, 2021, the Solid Waste District is no longer a drop-off location for cosmetics, beauty, and personal care products.

Donate

Consider donating still usable cosmetics to a family member or friend who can use the unwanted products.

Some new, unopened cosmetics may be donated to local nonprofit organizations that will use the items to support their work in the community. See the list below.
