Mix only what you need and, at the end of the season, allow the engine to run dry to use up extra fuel. Consider donating lamp oils and other fuels to a family member, friend or neighbor that can use them.
Gasoline and kerosene, even if they are old or contain oil or water, can be used again after being reconditioned. A fact sheet from the Ohio EPA explaining how to recondition fuels can be requested by calling (330) 963-1200.
Unwanted gasoline, kerosene and other fuels from a residence can be disposed of via your community's household hazardous waste disposal program. Most cities will not pour the gas off during a collection, so plan on leaving your gas can behind.
Businesses with gasoline, kerosene and fuels should contact a licensed company for proper disposal. See a list in our Business Recycling Directory.
