Sporting goods and equipment can be donated to a community service organizations that will use them to support their work, distribute them to people in need or resell them to raise funds. If the items are in excellent shape, you can also try selling them to a consignment shop for reuse.

Nike offers the Reuse-A-Shoe program. The company collects old, worn-out athletic shoes for recycling and transforms them into Nike Grind, a material used in creating athletic and playground surfaces as well as select Nike products. See a list of drop-off locations.
Broken or unusable sporting goods and equipment should be placed in the trash. Do not place items in your curbside recycling.
