Household Goods

Do not place household goods, including knives and metal pots or pans, in your curbside recycling.

Linens, household goods, furniture, kitchen utensils, small appliances and pots or pans still in good usable condition should be donated to an organization that can reuse or sell them to support their mission.

Drop items off at a donation drop box, typically located in retail parking lots throughout Cuyahoga County, or store operated by local charitiesFind a charitable organization that accepts donations of household goods in the list below.

Unusable metal pots and pans can be recycled at a local scrap metal yard, depending if they are ferrous or nonferrous metal. Check with your local scrap yard. Non-stick pans are a bit more complicated. See tips from Earth911.

Disposing of kitchen knives? If they can't be donated, recycle the knives at a scrap metal yard or scrap metal drop off in your community. Knives can also be placed in the trash with proper care and preparation. See details.

If the items are not recyclable or no longer usable, they should be placed in the regular trash for disposal.
